- KFC: Finger Lickin’ Good
THE CHALLENGE:
Their roster of innovative products that propelled Kentucky Fried Chicken (or KFC) to a leadership position in the multi-billion dollar fast food industry. But KFC knows that innovation is a journey not a destination, so when it and its parent company, Yum! Restaurants International (YRI), set the courageous goal of besting its previous successes, KFC turned to Synecticsworld.
THE PROCESS:
Setting goals that were grand in scope but necessary for the continued vitality of the company, KFC asked Synecticsworld to help it:
- Re-shape its dinner portfolio
- Fill the product pipeline for several years in advance
- Create a compelling bank of insights across the dinner and lunch platforms
- Define what is the next platform/layer to KFC business
THE RESULTS:
The Synecticsworld-led team not only succeeded in each of its tasks but, soon after, KFC found itself celebrating its best year yet, delivering store sales growth of 6%, system sales growth of 15% and an operating profit growth of 18%, which translated into a record operating profit of $480 million.
Today, the company started by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1952, has revenues of $520.3 million (2007) and is more popular than ever, due to its innovative menu offerings and, of course, their internationally known, “Finger Lickin’ Good” ad line.
